Funding the Future of Surgery, Today.

From Simulation to Surgery. Bridging the gap in access to simulated based training for surgeons.

The Problem

We do not have enough fully trained surgeons to meet the global demand for surgical care.  This is a problem that extends to all corners of the world with surgical care service provision under strain in developed and developing nations. There are 17 million surgeries delayed in the USA. There are 7.5 million patients on waiting lists in the UK.

The lack of fully trained surgeons is causing the same number of preventable deaths per year as HIV, Malaria, TB and complications from pregnancy, combined.

Traditional approaches to surgical training focus on an apprenticeship style approach with surgeons 'learning on the patient'. This approach is still the mainstay for teaching surgeons and it can no longer keep pace with the modern day demands for surgeon development.

There is a critical funding gap in health systems across the globe that has prevented the surgical training pathway moving away from the patient bedside and into the simulated environment.

The
Solution

Train 500,000
more surgeons

In order to train the surgeons we need to solve this evolving global health crisis, we need to move surgical training away from ‘practicing on patients’ and into a safe, simulated environment. Ensuring simulation becomes the first line for training.  To achieve this, we must solve the funding gap for surgical simulation.

About Us

Our Mission

The Surgical Horizons Foundation is committed to transforming surgical education by shifting the learning curve away from patient bedsides and into simulated environments. Our mission is to make simulation the first line of surgical training—ensuring that surgical residents across all specialties, regardless of location or resources, have access to cutting-edge simulation technology. By supporting the widespread adoption of cost-effective, scalable, and highly realistic surgical simulation, we aim to enhance patient safety, accelerate surgical mastery, and bridge the global gap in surgical care.

Our Purpose

There is a global crisis in surgical training —The Surgical Horizons Foundation exists to directly tackle this crisis by solving the funding gap for surgical simulation technology. Through charitable donations and strategic partnerships, we provide hospitals, residency programs, and training institutions with the financial resources to acquire, implement, and scale the use of surgical simulators. By eliminating financial barriers and advocating for the integration of simulation-based training as the global standard, we empower the next generation of surgeons to train with confidence, perform with precision, and save more lives.
